Chaplin, Saskatchewan

                                      984 miles

Jan 1 - Chaplin is situated on the northern edge of Chaplin Lake, a huge salt lake where brine shrimp thrive and shorebirds come from all over to eat them.   The reserve is cited by the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) as an area of “hemispheric importance” for its abundant shorebirds.

In addition to farming and ranching, the main industry of Chaplin is Saskatchewan Minerals, which extracts the sodium sulphate deposits of Chaplin Lake for the manufacture of detergents and in the Kraft process of paper pulping.
